Benjamin L. Smith
Benjamin L. Smith founded Bridge Language Services on a deeply personal conviction: that communication is a right, not a privilege. Growing up with a passion for human connection and a sensitivity to the barriers that language can create, Benjamin built BLS to be the bridge that so many communities were missing.
Benjamin's journey into language services began in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. As a fluent ASL communicator, he recognized early on the profound impact that a skilled, culturally aware interpreter could have — and the damage that a careless or unqualified one could cause. He set out to build something different.
Under his leadership, Bridge Language Services has expanded from ASL interpreting into over 100 spoken languages, serving hospitals, law offices, corporations, schools, and community organizations across Florida and beyond. Every interpreter BLS places is carefully matched not just by language, but by cultural background, vocabulary expertise, and the unique demands of each setting.
Benjamin is also a published author. His book, Flashes of Humanity, available on Amazon, reflects his deep belief in the dignity and shared experience of every person. He is an active supporter of Black Deaf Advocates, Inc. — a nonprofit working to advance the rights and representation of Black Deaf individuals nationwide.
Benjamin is a proud member of Professional Connections BNI in Orlando, where he serves as a connector and resource hub for his chapter and the broader business community through the BLS Network Solutions referral platform.
